My 2 Cents:

The Favor system *did* need changing, however I don't think the change they've rolled in is much better.

Titles ARE a grind, and it takes people a lot of time to make minimal difference, but this isn't the real problem.

The REAL problem is that it's not sustainable. For instance, I'm a total title addict, and I grind along grabbing titles as much as I can.

However, do I want to legendary vanquisher/guardian/survivor across all my characters? Hell no, once is enough thank you.

Many other players will do the same, they'll grind a lot of titles on just one character and seriously not bother with the rest.

Eventually people run out of titles and then simply stop going for them.

Old System:
pros:
* Sustainable, theres an infinite amount of times people can play/win HoH.

cons:
* Generally biases towards the majority PvP players.

New System:
pros:
* Brings everyone onto the same level

cons:
* Isn't sustainable, eventually titles will dry up.

So really I'm not a big fan of either system.

So the question is: How does ANet intend to address this?

I never really understood the old system. Why did a pvp area control a pve location? Also, with the old system the lesser servers rarely got a chance to play UW, and FoW until scrolls were introduced, but the new favor system gives them a much more stable way to enter those locations without having to pay much more than required. I do see some issues with the current system, though. What will happen once Guild Wars 2 comes out? The majority of the Guild Wars community will move to that, and I believe titles will rarely be achieved at a rate the will keep favor for long. I think changes still need to be made to the favor system, but I don't want them to turn it back to what it once was.

Haven't been to UW or Fow in months to clear it out. but there is always passage scrolls if groups want to go down there any time for hours at a time. No sense wasting Passage scrolls for the good for nothing Ecto farmers anyway... So for me, it just does not matter either way. Heck remove favor entirely for all I care. And make it only possible if you get a scroll... That will really screw the ecto farmers. lol I'm laughing inside more then many. Cause I just do not care... Hell put a bullet in my head, I still dont care. Point is, its a bonus; and as such if you get to go great, if you don't, no biggy...

Eventually they will run out of people farming titles. Possibly sooner then GW2 release. when that happens Anet will not have a choice but to change it again. but for now it seems like someone has favor at all time... It was just the first 2 days really that was dead for a few hours at a time. Where no one had favor... But even still like I said before, even if no one has favor for a month solid, there is still passage scrolls to get in if you want too.. so I just don't see the big deal everyone is worrying about... Except that all the sudden the little farm bots can not farm ecto anymore easily or cheaply. Whoopty doo and la dee da. Seems to me the people that were non stop farming that since almost day one, have been exploiting the farming of those for too long and its about time a major barrier was popped in front of them to stop their insane nonsense of drudge and boredom in repetition.

The ENTIRE WORLD gets favor every time favor is granted. There is now no benefit to being in any certain region with regard to favor. This change is definitely a step in the right direction. It takes control of PVE zones AWAY from PVP'ers, and it provides access to UW/FOW for mixed region parties in the international districts, which was previously not possible.

I have to go to work at 5 in the morning, and since I live in America, that would mean I would have to do one of two things: 1) deprive myself of sleep and do a below par job at work, or 2) Spend way more money then I need to so I can buy a scroll while the Europeans go back and forth in and out all day in UW. This way is great at the time. I actually can get into UW on days other then Saturday now. There will come a time when Anet needs to make a new system and by then, hopefully all of us that don't think it's fair to pay 3-4k for a scroll will all be tired of UW and FoW.

Life has more than two answers for every question. How about removing favor? The only reason people aren't up in arms about this system is because there's perma-favor. This system is as arbitrary as the last system and supporting this supports the title-grind system. Anet is developing GW2 and testing ideas with GW. I'd like to actually play GW2 but not if it's a WoW emulator.

helps players who are not PvP nuts do the elite parts of PvE without having to rely on their HA teams to win in HoH to access the elite areas!

the scrolls help if you don't have favor but when im on people seem to be maxing titles every few mins so its not hard to gain favor to access "leet" areas!

I agree in the fact that PvErs should control the PvE zones, but this is just stupid. Not everyone wants to max titles, and even fewer people want to max more than 5 titles. I have seen something like 3 chars with I'm very important in game...
And I don't think new players will be fond of titles either.
Let's look at those that make you get the favor :
-Survivor... Yeah, sure, a totally new player at the game who can't get good non-survivors builds will max this easily !
-Defender of Ascalon, you do that when you want a new challenge in the game, not when you discover it.
-Legendary Cartographer, why not... It's not that hard, especially with the mods that change the color of the fog.
-Legendary Skill Hunter needs you to buy all the chapters and to have a large amount of money.
-Legendary Vanquisher also requires to have all the chapters.
-Sunspear is an easy title, but you can't do it with only Prophecies and/or Factions.
-Lightbringer needs lots of farm. When you start GW, you have other things to do, most will only get Adept or maybe Brave Lightbringer for the Signet.
-Kurzick and Luxon... Just lol. Even with FFF this title is just hard, long grinding.
-Lucky, Unlucky, Gamer, Drunkard, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom and Sweet Tooth need so much money that it's useless to even think about maxing them for a newbie. According to Guild Wiki, you need 6000K for the Treasure Hunter... I'm playing till the beggining without farming and traded something like 10 items. I actually have 100K in my storage, 160K was my max, and if I count everything I bought, I probably gained 250K...
-Hero, Gladiator, Champion and Commander are PvP titles which isn't really logical, plus it's almost impossible to reach them.
While I'm happy that now everyone can have the favor, the title system is just stupid.

Loving the fact that the whole world gets favour.
AND it actually is up most of the time.

Nah.
I would still prefer something else - like gaining protector of a certain continent and you gain access to FoW/UW for that continent's entry point. That way everyone MUST earn the favour themselves! Plus - once you get it - NOBODY can take it away from you. Because now we still NEED to rely on others to obtain favour and that is still as crappy as with the whole HoH-system!

Fact of the matter is, while this system is still a little goofy, while quite a few people could give less of a shit about who gets a title, it's still *greatly* improved to what it was before.

It sucks. I mean where's the competitiveness in this? You don't fight for favor, you grind for it. That's stupid. And now the Gods gaze, instead of on a certain piece of land, on they entire world? That's stupid!
